Toyah & Robert’s Christmas Party at the Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
We thought this would be a nice treat just before Christmas, as we had had quite a mad November run up to the holidays. And with Toyah and her hubby, Robert Fripp, who after their massive success of their kitchen antics during Covid and after, gathering a massive following on the internet, performing not only Toyah numbers but covering everything from pop songs to Metallica. Toyah dancing and prancing around their kitchen, with Fripp playing guitar and sometimes becoming the straight-faced target of Toyah’s humorous renditions.
We know Toyah can still sing, we saw her supporting earlier this year, and she proved it again tonight, with an excellent performance of very varied songs from ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’, ‘Sunshine Of Your Love’, ‘Echo Beach’, ‘Heart of Glass’, ‘Paranoid’, ‘Rebel Yell’, ‘Rockin In The Free World’ and the previously mentioned, Metallica’s ‘Enter Sandman’, alongside her own hits, ‘I Want To Be Free’, ‘Thunder In The Mountains’, and of course, ‘It’s A Mystery’. Apart from Toyah’s excellent vocal deliverance and the banter between the couple which the audience loved, it was great to see why Fripp has such a reputation as a guitarist, with some incredible solos, without breaking out in a sweat, I might add. We were right, tonight did turn out to be a treat for everyone in the Wulfrun Hall, and with most of the five date Christmas tour pretty much sold out, a really fun night and hope this Christmas habit continues.
