We have been looking forward in seeing this Scandinavian pop songstress for a while now. After winning the breakthrough artist award and bursting onto the mainstream charts with her debut album ‘Sucker Punch’, we were blown away with her Radio 2 Piano lounge set, which showed just what a great voice she has. Walking onto the O2 stage with hair pulled back into a ponytail and just jeans and a black t-shirt, and as far as I could see, not much makeup, typical Scandinavian! Looking more like a teenager than her 26 years, but her look belies the quality of her songwriting, and delivered with a fantastic voice. Even though, as she informed the audience, she has had some little problems with her voice lately, it is slowly getting back to normal. Really, well you couldn’t tell, she smashed every song, end of.

With the majority of the set taken from her new album ‘How To Let Go’, which went to number 2 in the UK chart, the crowd were with her all of the way, singing when requested by Sigrid. Yes, the hits were there, but they didn’t care they loved anything she sang. Even with an unplanned stoppage during a solo keyboard version of ‘Bad Life’, due to someone in the crowd being in trouble, and a ten-minute gap, came on and started the song again, only to have it happen again! After that she had to ditch the song due to a curfew time, which was a pity as its one of my faves.

She has a very girl next door persona, that is very infectious. Couple this with a brilliant voice and talented songwriting, Sigrid will be around for a long while yet. And when she performed the encore of ‘Don’t Feel Like Crying’ and ‘Mirror’, the room was still packed with everyone getting the most out of the night and I for one can’t wait for a return of this talented lady.
