We got into Palaye Royale a couple of years ago now, and were lucky to see them live at KK’s Steel Mill, where they blew us away. We have been waiting for a replay, and with a massive European tour supporting their new album, ‘Death or Glory’, which by the way is superb and full of the energy that they deliver live, and boy do they deliver! This Wembley Arena gig is the biggest of their career up until now, and it was obvious that it meant so much to them, with a heartfelt message from Remington to the crowd, that they had always dreamed of playing in this iconic venue, and tonight their dreams had come true. And for many here I would guess theirs too, as they we were treated to a high energy, pyro heavy, large balloon, assault on the senses.
The brothers – Remington, Sebastian and Emerson – have come a long way, and were on the up when Covid hit, but with that now history they are going full blast to make up for lost time. With older songs like ‘Little Bastards’, ‘Broken’, a sublime piano version of ‘Lonely’, and a crowd massive sing a long of ‘Oblivion’, it is incredible to see how they have grown, and it shows on their faces. Every time they look around in awe at the fans, they have that look of knowing their doing everything right, although it’s not all been plain sailing for these brothers. They lost their mother recently and there were tears aplenty when Remington dedicated ‘Fever Dream’ to her. She always supported them and actually said they would one day play Wembley, telling the crowd his mother would be proud them, very emotional.
Remington, who is like spiderman and always finds things to climb up, tonight is out of luck. So, what does he do? He gets the dinghy out and surfs the crowd, being carried around the arena before being basically thrown back into the pit, wow. We have no doubt that this pinnacle tonight will become the norm, and with songs on ‘Death or Glory’ being greeted with such a reaction, their future has no boundaries. Until the next time we get to see this, we must say they are the most exciting band around today. Again, we will have the albums on loop. In one word, EXCEPTIONAL.
