Kylie – BST Hyde Park – 13 July

Well, what can you say about our Kylie? God knows she has how many hits, both singles and albums, and still with the label of “pop princess”. Although in her mid-fifties, she looks and has a body of a twenty-five-year-old, with the same energy and enthusiasm of a women just starting out on her career.

She treated the sold-out crowd in Hyde Park to a 90-minute Kylie party. Rising up to the stage, in a red very tight latex body suit, looking fantastic, and it was obvious that this meant so much to her, surrounded by thousands of her fans. The night was split into four acts and an encore and came with costume changes. Only a couple of times did Kylie let the pace slow at all, as most of the night was an upbeat extravaganza. With hit after hit after hit, ‘In Your Eyes’, ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’, ‘Slow’, ‘Better The Devil You Know’, ‘Step Back Into Time’, ‘Loco Motion’, ‘Spinning Around’, ‘On A Night Like This’, ‘Love At First Sight’ and the now must play live track, ‘Padam Padam’. They were all there, with a couple of little surprises thrown in like ‘Red Blooded Women’, which she apparently hasn’t played since, 2009! And her new single, ‘My Oh My’, bringing on her cohorts, Bebe Rexha and Tove Lo from the single to perform it for the enraptured crowd. Amongst some of the costume changes was a gold long evening looking type of dress, which actually stuck to her now sweaty body, and a long tasselled sparkly country outfit, to sing the brilliant single ‘Midnight Ride’.

We were very lucky with the weather as it didn’t rain and count ourselves even luckier to actually be in Hyde Park tonight. Kylie has a likeability that you can’t buy and has an excellent voice. A ball of energy, in one quite small package. And if the rumour mill is correct, even more people that were here tonight will get the chance to witness our Kylie on tour in support of new album ‘Tension’ that may be coming soon – watch this space.
