The tour will mark 33 years since the two Factory Records label mates toured together back in 1988 and is set to be an exciting reunion of two of Manchester’s most celebrated bands.
After first signing to the label back in 1982, James have released numerous successful hit singles including ‘Sit Down’ to ‘She’s A Star’, ‘Laid’, ‘Come Home’, ‘Moving On’ to ‘Nothing But Love’ and ‘Many Faces’. They have played memorable shows across the globe as well as sold over 20 million albums, cementing their status as one of the most iconic live British bands.
Their biggest ever tour took place back in 2018 and consisted of a grand total of 86 shows across 14 different countries, following No. 6 and No. 2 UK chart debuts of their most recent two studio albums.
Frontman Tim Booth commented, “So looking forward to seeing you. We will pack two years of frustration and explosive joy into these gigs. It feels like a new dawn to trumpet a celebratory tour, a week after the first news of hope. We’re playing with the brilliant Happy Mondays. We last played with them in 1988, hopefully this time they won’t steal our rider or try and spike my drink…”
Legendary Mancunian band Happy Mondays reformed with their original line-up in 2012. Their first album ‘Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out)’ debuted in 1987 and was followed up with two further classic records in the form of 1988s ‘Bummed’ and 1990s ‘Pills ‘n’ Thrills and Bellyaches’, which achieved platinum status in the UK. Fans can expect to hear all their biggest hits including ‘Step On’, ‘Kinky Afro’, ‘Hallelujah’, ‘24 Hour Party People’ and many more.
Don’t miss the two big Manchester bands on tour in 2021!
