The track marks the Grammy-winning and 8x BRIT-nominated British pop trio’s return to music as well as their second collaboration with chart-topping singer Anne-Marie, who they previously joined forces with for ‘Rockabye’ featuring Sean Paul. The accompanying self-directed music video for the international hit is currently close to reaching three billion views on YouTube, and the song is one of the four Clean Bandit tracks to hit over a billion Spotify streams, placing them in Spotify’s Billions Club four times. The only other UK bands to reach this milestone are Queen, Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and One Direction.
Discussing the new single, Grace Chatto of Clean Bandit commented, “It’s hard to express in words how much ‘Cry Baby’ means to me. It came out delicate, playful and soft, despite the song’s deep pain. It still makes me cry sometimes when I listen to it, 4 years on from when we started it. I’m so grateful it is finally out in the world.”
The group have been teasing their new music this year as well as featured on two Latin bangers earlier this summer; ‘MAR AZUL’ with Colombian reggaeton giants Piso 21 & Jhosy, and ‘Lambo Sport’ with the Puerto Rican rapper Darell.
Since forming back in 2008, they have achieved four number No.1 hits and ten Top 10 hits on the UK Singles Chart.
Clean Bandit consists of classically trained cellist Grace Chatto and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson.
