Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse

We happen to be in the big city this weekend for the Bruce Springsteen concert, so when we saw that one of our favourite bands were in London too, Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse, we jumped at the chance of seeing them at the historic 100 Club. As usual, we were glad we did, they are without a doubt one of the best live bands around at the moment. And now with their new album, ‘Hot Nostalgia Radio’, their second full album, they have even more ammunition to impress us with. They are a mighty unconventional band. Yes, they do their own stuff, but you always get some surprise covers, and tonight they had a few guests to help them out, namely, Alice Armstrong, Jack J Hutchinson and Aynsley Lister. All had their own slot before joining Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse at different points on the night.

The nice size crowd in The 100 Club tonight meant that Geoff had a struggle to get shots of this exciting band as he couldn’t get near the front! And with their blues/indie-based pop crossover sound, there is something for everyone. They are also getting a lot of rock radio airplay with their first two singles off the album, ‘Satisfy Your Queen’ and ‘Wild Women’. Surrounded by a very talented band, Greta Valenti’s vocals are incredible and with the virtuoso guitar playing of Robin Davey, they are a force of nature. What a cracking night and we will be counting the days until we get another dose of Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse.
