Laura Marling all the way…. do the judges take into account aesthetics?

Dizzee or Mumford & Sons for me

Last year it went to Speech Debelle (I had to google that to be reminded) and what a wasted opportunity that was as she proceeded to let it go to her head and embarras herself. Now disappeared.
For the award to regain some credibility, they need to go for an act a bit more reliable and with a little better track record.
On that basis, I think Laura Marling is out of it, and Weller…well…everyone knows he’s a drunken fool so I guess it would not hurt giving it to him…but why, it would serve no purpose - they want a legacy.
Mumford and Biffy are pretty popular, but not pop, but are already ‘there’. The XX is popular too, but seems a bit teen-orientated (I could be speaking out of my Ace here, as have no idea what they are like, sorry).
I have not heard much about Wild Beats or Villagers, so am favouring Kloot or Foals.
I’ll go for Kloot….who’s running the sweep?
P.S. I have not heard ANY of these albums.

The XX or Mumford and sons, live they are both on a par but i’ll have to go for The XX.
However, we all know Kit Downes Trio will clearly walk away with this due to the madness of the Mercury Prize (probably just me who has never heard of them)

Foals definitely deserve to win this- their album is easily the best in the shortlist.
