On July 19th, singer/songwriter Charlee Drew releases his debut single and if the mood of his music matches the weather then we are all set for a heat wave next week. The song’s called “Sugar Rush” and it’s a perfect summer tune with it’s catchy but not too cheesy chorus.
The song’s instrumentation is made up of acoustic guitar and piano, both aiding the soft and soulful sound. The voice of Charlee himself also gives off the same warm feeling; his distinctly English accent is something rarely heard in mainstream music today. His voice also sounds real and raw which offers a welcome change from the over-produced sound of many today.
The title of the song matches perfectly with it’s lyrical content as some of the words are definitely sickly sweet but in this case that’s not a bad thing . This song is not claiming to be anything more than a cheerful pop song and if you want a song that will make you smile in the summer sun then this is the one for you.
