GetToTheFront: ‘We Get Along’ from your forthcoming album, “Heart & Soul”, what made you choose to release it as a single?
Dakota: We felt that it was the track that most said ’summer nights out’ to us all. Hence why we are releasing in in June
GetToTheFront: Would you say it gives a fair indication of what’s to come of the album in it’s entirety?
Dakota: Absolutely, however there are a couple of tunes on the album that are a bit more ‘heavier’ sounding
GetToTheFront: FemaleFirst named you as their ‘One To Watch’ back in January, do you feel this album will mean you’ll live up to that expectation?
Dakota: We’d like to think so. We’ve worked hard on this album and intend to work hard on getting it out to people
GetToTheFront: Ben, you’ve written the lyrics and some are rather personal. Do you ever feel that you’ve given away too much?
Dakota: We’d like to think that people want to hear personal songs that have a story embedded. The songs are personal and the whole album in fact is a journey through a tough heartbreaking time. All good songs give away the heart and soul of the songwriter and that’s what this album is
GetToTheFront: Obviously in this day & age, a lot of bands turn to social networking to connect with fans. Is there a reason why you ceased the use of your twitter?
Dakota: We have had some technical issues with our Twitter but we’ve got it sorted now. However we are more inclined to use our myspace as it gives is more space to say what we want. Sometimes 140 characters is just not enough
GetToTheFront: As for your name, you called yourselves Dakota after the building where John Lennon lived, and died. I take it that you’ve been inspired by him?
Dakota: Who hasn’t? We are all big beatles fans as well as all their solo work. Their contribution to music has changed the world
GetToTheFront: You recently played at the British Open Show Jumping Championships, would you say that’s been your weirdest gigging experience to date?
Dakota: We’ve been fortunate enough to have played some very special shows. But, yes, it was. It’s not everyday you get to play the NEC!
GetToTheFront: Can we expect any more touring around the country in the upcoming months, or are you busy elsewhere?
Dakota: You bet you can! We are currently putting it together at the moment. You’ll be able to keep updated from our myspace
