Review: Aggro Santos Featuring Kimberly Wyatt, Candy

Posted by GetToTheFront On March - 24 - 2010

Artist: Aggro Santos Featuring Kimberly Wyatt
Single: Candy
Label: Mercury
Released: 9th May 2010
Reviewed By: Chantelle May

aggro1Have you got room for another UK rapper in your life? If so, allow me to introduce Aggro Santos, an up-and-coming urban-electro artist from South London. Aggro Santos rapping style is somewhat similar to Sean Kingston’s, where the voice does not match the Country of residence (Yes, a polite way of calling out his fake accent) but his style can be seen as a breath of fresh air in the UK rap scene.

‘Candy’ is the upcoming single and features the debut solo effort from ex Pussycat Doll member Kimberly Wyatt (adding an ex Pussycat Doll to your debut single is one way to secure attention). Wyatt’s vocals (Yes, she can sing) are a fun, vibrant addition to the infectious chorus and mixed with Santos rap versus is a definite match made in pop heaven.
If you’re currently looking for your summer anthem, this urban-electro song is defiantly the one for you, but if you’re looking for lyrics that will touch your heart and soul, this song is not the one for you!

‘Candy’ is a celebrated effort from Aggro Santos and is likely going to help get him noticed in 2010

Review: Sia, Clap Your Hands

Posted by GetToTheFront On March - 24 - 2010

Artist: Sia
Single: Clap Your Hands
Label: RCA
Released: 31st May 2010
Reviewed By: Nicole Tiernan

sia11Award winning Australian pop star Sia is back and set to release her fourth studio album ‘We Are Born’ produced by Greg Kurstin who has worked with the likes of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Britney Spears, on June 7th

‘Clap your hands’, the debut single from ‘We Are Born’ is a funky pop track with a jazz twist, Sia’s smooth and mellow voice which is somewhat mesmerising differs from the quite up beat backing track, which funnily enough compliments the track well.

As a whole this track is a happy burst of pure delight whether it is from the soothing vocals of Sia or the spring ready music, this track does not fail to allure you into a pretty optimistic mood. However in amongst the delight the only downside is the slightly poor and disappointing chorus which does not differ from the verses as it has no impact in Sia’s vocal range or the backing music.

Chorus aside if this track is an insight to what ‘We Are Born’ holds then Sia is a definite one to watch throughout 2010. Additionally ‘Clap Your Hands’ is undoubtedly one for the CD collection or iTunes library
