bout to hit the road supporting Frank Turner for a 21-date UK and European tour; this Devon-based quartet release “Still To Keep”, an upbeat punk-rock track that seems to have been purposely written to be heard live. From the opening note you wish you were in one of their crowds, chanting along to their inspiring lyrics and pogoing to their fast-paced rhythms.
The lyrics are intelligent, standing up to parliament and it’s incompetence. However do not let the politically led theme stop you from treating your ears to this; Crazy Arm want this song to lift you up, not bring you down. With lines like “Be not afraid to hold out for more, no need for the key when you kicked down the door” their aim is clear. This song successfully manages to deliver motivating rhymes without becoming riddled with clichés.
It is at 2:40 where the 4 minute track reaches it’s pinnacle with a melodic yet aggressive instrumental rendition of the killer chorus. Although now missing vocals, this 25-second wonder gives the band a chance to show off their playing skills and it isn’t long before you can sing along to the witty words once again. Nowadays it may seem rare for a band to be able to make both a statement and a catchy song but Crazy Arm have done just that. Meaningful enough to make you think yet at the same time loud enough to let you forget everything.
