After winning support slots with InMe and The Automatic, it appears it’s time for the main attention to be on Straight Lines themselves. Fresh from a headline tour, the band hailing from Wales have decided to lift the infectiously catchy “Runaway Now” from their recently released debut album, “Persistence In This Game.”
With lines like “It’s better to be late in this life than early in the next” and a memorable melody, it seems that if there was any justice this indie-rock number would see this four piece catapult into the mainstream. If you’re looking for an upbeat song to make you smile, this song offers just that. By the end of the 3:39 track you will be wishing you were able to “Runaway Now” with the band in tow.
Offered as a B-side is the more fast-paced “Cutting Loose”. Although less commercially strong this will still please any fan. Also included is an acoustic version of “Runaway Now.” Stripped back and laid bare, this treats listeners to hear a whole new side of the band. The quartet know they have written a strong song and therefore maximise it’s potential with a reworked arrangement.
Overall from a relatively-unknown band this single shows they offer competition to any of their bigger rivals. Watch this space.
