She told you “logistic issues” - i.e., she realised hey,…look how much tickets were going for on seatwave?

    *hmmmmm..

“I think I may as well postpone the last dates and do a few extra dates when the o2 is next available and make some more money. What do you reckon mr manager?”

“makes perfect sense ms gaga. We’d be gaga not to wouldn’t we,”

    *CHUCKLE CHUCKLE

“And anyway, its only nottingham and the little towns we’ll be annoying. Our main fans we care about are in London right??”

“I think so, I don’t remember ever hearing the town Nottingham before”

“Don’t worry lady, I’ll call AEG o2, ticketmaster etc. first thing on Monday and get the dates changed!”

    “cheers!”

£50-75 confirms my expectations and synopsis of what happenned. I really need to get higher up in this industry. It’s just printing easy money. They call bankers fraudsters, but this is ridiculous!!

Bloody hell you lot are cynical, why the hell would she need an excuse to come back in May anyway?

  16. O'Neil Taylor Said,

I am sure there is a good reason for the rescheduled dates. It would be in her (financial) benefit to do the dates in Nottingham & Sheffield next week and then still add new dates at those places in May/June. I am sure she’d have no problems selling them out again. So I’m sure the rescheduled dates isnt a money making reason.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:18

  17. Dreamer Said,

To ride off the momentum and good reviews of her initial london shows perhaps?

It’s obvious shes doing it for the money. OBVIOUS.

  18. Trips Said,

Lady Gaga needs to cash in on her popularity now, great work from her people and myself like news for the new dates as well ie The O2. I think we all know she’s actually not that good and in a year or two’s time she’ll just be another Shakira. I’ll be looking to snap up a couple of ticks that’s for sure, ie get involved while she’s at the top.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:20

  19. whereistherent Said,

She’s added more dates for the money, yeah, maybe because being a musician is her JOB?

It’s not an explanation for cancelling the two dates though.

  20. julie Said,

my question is for the sheff date.. would we send our tickets back and get our 66.00 back.. and then be expected to pay 100 plus??? surely this cant be the case what do others think

  21. W Said,

Dont knock the hustle… I’d tour constantly if I were her!

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:22

  22. W Said,

You wont have to rebuy your tickets!!! if you do have to send them back (which I believe is pointless) you would just be reissued with the same ticket for the new date.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:24

  23. SB Said,

    Julie,

No, your tickets are used for the rescheduled Sheffied dates UNLESS you can’t go and then you send them in. Someone here mentioned they are cancelled. LiveNation shows them to be rescheduled.

    There is a difference.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:24

  24. Dreamer Said,

whereistherent you are missing the point.

She is cashing in by screwing part of her fan base rescheduling for no genuine reason other than to ride off the momentum of her existing shows/tours.

If she just added dates leaving the existing ones present then that’s a different story (and it wouldn’t have carried as much press and free marketing). Typical money grabbing nasty person. Not even a statement from her - she couldn’t care less for her fans (which again was obvious - using “logistics” as the reason).

whereistherent don’t be so naive. Or maybe I shouldn’t be so negative :p

So I’m sure Lady Gaga would love to be ‘another Shakira’

Funny how 95.8 capital fm has not stopped playing gaga today and keeps mentioning the new dates at the o2 and the cancellation.

    Great free marketing by gaga.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:32

  28. Trips Said,

Shakira is in the same bracket as Alison Moyet, Tori Amos and Atomic Kitten - ie very popular for a specific time window, but then not long after just another random artist who had a couple of good songs once. Lady Gaga will be the same, although at this point in time she’s doing very well and has at least three or four good songs. But she won’t be able to keep that up, look at her.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:37

  29. highflyer Said,

i pretty disgusted with her too. I dont mind her addiing extra dates and i dont even mind her putting the prices up but to a) reschedule existing dates just so it makes it logistically easier for her sucks and b) insist on sending your tickets back in just to have them reissued is ridiculous. The only one who makes out like a bandit there is the Royal Mail! So any tickets I’ve sent to my friends they have to send back to me RMSD for me to send back to TM RMSD for them to send me them back again and for me to send them back to my friends again RMSD. What a joke.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:38

  30. Dreamer Said,

Totally agree highflyer. At least we get “royalties” for these new dates. I certainly won’t be in attendance.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:40

  31. highflyer Said,

I’d have to say if I were a fan I’d be really peed off too - imagine paying through the nose to see her at the O2 this week only for her then to add another date. Why didn’t she do it before! These artists really dont help in the fight against touts do they!

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:45

  32. Dreamer Said,

I hadn’t even thought of that highflyer.

And you miss the first set of dates and you hear “hey there are new dates, super!”
Only to see she jacks up the price to £50-75 only 2-3 months later!?! I mean surely it’ll make more sense to add MORE dates at the SAME original price rather than less dates at higher prices and p*ss off fans.

O, but I just realised that’d mean gaga turning up late more often and actually having to work twice as hard doing more dates. We can’t have her mess up her costumes can we?

As I said she doesn’t care about touts and fans and what not. Its all about the MONEY!!! Money makes the world go around.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 13:50

  33. Dreamer Said,

I reckon she should name her next single and call it “Gigs, touts and money”.

And peform it live dressed in a $100 bill. :D I’d pay to see that!! lol.

My my she hustled you Nottingham crowd very well. She really does have a poker face. haha

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 14:02

  34. Sean Said,

Looks like the new dates are all seated, so I suspect only a few of the tickets in the front blocks will be £75 and 95% of them will be £50.

£50 is probably about right in the current market for her.

Just to join in the debate, I don’t think she is a flash in the pan. I think she could easily end up in the Britney and Christina bracket and have some longetivity. She has enough about her to sustain the media interest and her songs are catchy and appeal to a wide range ( i’ve heard her in dance/rock/indie clubs) and there were kiddies to oldies at her Manchester gig. Same sort of thing with her making the Glastonbury lineup last year and looks set to be high up at V Festival this year, very few pop artists have ever made it to where she is expected to end up on the V lineup this year, except maybe Dido.

Shakira, Atomic Kitten and Tori Amos never had the kind of demand we’ve just had for Lady Gaga or even close. Gaga is huge now and she has gone down a storm with these gigs. If she releases another album anywhere near the success of these 1 and a half she’s done then she’ll be here to stay. I don’t particuarly like her btw, I took the other half but thought she was pretty good and everybody lapped her up throughout.

She’s got a habit of cancelling already, didn’t turn up for some of her Take That support slots and missed most of her V slot last year..

You gotta love the lovegame lovegame - from the poker face.

    What a hustler!

  38. Trips Said,

What is the problem with her making money from her five minutes of popularity? In the long term she will probably end up being yourself like as I’ve mentioned above, but what’s wrong with her cashing in now? I don’t get it. If people want to see her, they’ll pay, if they don’t, they won’t.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 14:21

  39. Trips Said,

As for Shakira, Atomic Kitten and Tori Amos - I’m not talking about demand for gigs, I’m talking about being very popular for a given perid of time like Lady Gaga is now and making the most of that financially, measuring demand for gigs would only be one way of guaging that. I have no idea if Atomic Kitten ever toured, but I know they were hugely popular and commercialised back in the day, even though their music was terrible and their fans were mostly dimwits. All three of those acts have gone through what Lady Gaga is going through now. Clearly she won’t stand the test of time, just like those three, but for now she is very successful and fair play to her.

  40. Sean Said,

Well the seating plans for it are all seated on LN. On reflection that probably means nothing at the moment

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 14:28

  41. SB Said,

    Sean,

you answered your own question. I wouldn’t take too much notice of the seating plan.

Jack Johnson and Rhianna is also on the LN website as fully seated and we know that’s not the case.

Thinking about it, I think it will just be standing as before now.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 14:42

  42. Dreamer Said,

Trips there is nothing wrong with making money from touring. That IS their job afterall.

    What I am against is;

    1) Her target audience is generally quite young - asking prices of £50-75 is too high in my opinion for her target audience (especially given how rarely she has if ever toured in the uk). If it was her 2nd or 3rd UK tour then fine.

    2) Increasing the price within 2 months of her latest gig in the same venue is wrong and immoral - no argument about that I hope

    3) Cancelling within 1 weeks notice for little or no genuine reason is poor.

    4) Adding dates so soon after her latest show when she knew full well she could’ve added a date earlier, saving hundreds if not thousands of desperate unfortunate fans having to pay ridiculously over the odd prices to touts

    5) If the AMEX ridiculously tiered pricing prophecy does indeed come true, I am thoroughly against giving the richest fans the best seats. *This point is based purely on historical cynical speculation mind.*

    6) Ultimately, lastly for playing her fans like a game of poker and making money out of them in such a seedy b*tchy way.

I can think of many artists who’d never do the above. NEVER. And if management forced them to do it they’d make a public statement and apologise to their fans. Her website apology is very generic and not genuine at all.

LOL - people like to complain just for the hell of it.

    Posted on March 1st, 2010 at 14:50

  44. Dreamer Said,

When we are slaving over crappy jobs in a recession, and we are well over qualified for our role, and someone not at all that musically gifted gets given the chance to make millions and treats the people who got her there like that, why shouldn’t I complain?

If only humans were intelligent enough to boycott idiots like I have seetickets; economics & market forces would soon force losers like her to appreciate what she has got and been given.

But unfortunately there are too many stupid people out there to let people like her get away with an attitude like this and keep printing money.

  63. Sean Said,

Wonder if they’ll come after the fees they’ve forgotten to add on? Should be £75 + £9.25 fees according to Ticketmaster but when you buy them, they’ve forgotten to add the £9.25.

They’ve just added them in now at about 9:15, reckon they’ll come for the booking fees on the tickets they sold without them?

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:15

  64. R Said,

@Sean - lol - I thought they were slightly cheaper than I was expecting! I bet somebody is feeling fairly insecure in their job at Ticketmaster HQ right now… Are they allowed to up the price? I would have thought that would be illegal. If you make a sale at a price, surely you are bound by it - shops can’t chase you out the shop asking for extra

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:19

  65. Wjaxn Said,

They can - they can cancel the order at their discression.

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:21

  66. Sean Said,

They’ve come for extra postage before on standing tickets they charged at standard post but needed to send secure delivery so wouldn’t suprise me.

It is a lot to lose out on, don’t know how many tickets go to the o2 pre-sale but think its a couple of thousand, at least £6.25 a ticket, fair old amount to lose. Definately a mistake because they’ve added them on now if you manage to bring any up

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:22

  67. John Said,

Good for you guys - I’m gonna get raped on Seatwave/whatever I imagine …

Bragging about seats is fine by my books, just don’t shove your secondary profits down me throat at the same time …

Also Standing tickets only have standard post as an option - Nice and cheap!

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:23

  69. Sean Said,

John, she’ll likely add the 31st as well, sure at these prices you’ll be able to find some somewhere along the way at face if you try for all the pre-sales etc.

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:25

  70. R Said,

Would be fairly unethical to cancel on their mistake, surely only that other agency we all know and love would pull that kind of stunt (which you’d find out at the Box Office on the night of the event)

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:25

  71. Wjaxn Said,

Im sure they wont - they will just fire the poor sod who lost them all their profit! I dont personally think she will add (although she probably will…) as she suffered quite badly with stress last time (cancelling US dates due to exhaustion) so if shes sensible - she wont overdo it just for the sake of making more money (when she has made a mint already) but then again - some people think money is more important than health… :(

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:28

  72. John Said,

I’m in the smoke on the 30th for a weekend away (Love Never Dies on the 29th), hence I wanted to make this date - will be back in Brum on the 31st.

I have the option of the smelly NEC on the Friday before but I haven’t even been to the O2 yet and it woulda been fab to add that to the weekend away …

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:28

  73. ganga_man Said,

Monday 31st May is a bank holiday so she is more than likely to add that.

  74. Sean Said,

    Notts 27/5
    Brum 28/5
    Day Off 29/5
    O2 30/5
    Nothing 31/5
    Nothing 1/6
    MEN 2/6

Defo a date going in after the O2 in my opinion. Even though once again theo2 are advertising it as “1 extra night”

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:31

  75. Wjaxn Said,

I thought that was a bit cheeky - calling it an extra night to the same tour - but this night is going to cost you twice as much!! lets hope its twice as good then shall we!!?!?!

They could at least have had the decency to call it a different tour then her less educated fans would see this as a justified reason to spend twice as much - I was happy for what I got for £35 - but for £75 (with or without booking fees) I want a lapdance! And I dont even swing her way - but its principles!!!! :)

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:33

  76. Sean Said,

Ah I see your problem John.

The o2 isn’t *that* great anyway, it is quite out of the way, the restaurants and bars are horrendously over priced and the upper tier is extremely steep even by arena standards. The LG has been refurbed now too?

    Posted on March 9th, 2010 at 10:36

  80. John Said,

Yeah I know, I’d only take seats in 101/102 or 111/112 anyway. Clearly I wasn’t quick enough compared to some of the “pros”. I coulda had 108 etc but I’m not accustomed to trying to watch a gig that’s 100yds away, especially at these prices lol. I’d never do the 400s under any circumstances!

It just woulda been cool as a one-off O2 adventure seeing as we’re there anyway with not much to do on the Sunday evening I imagine.

I’ll try my luck tomorrow although I imagine there was prolly a 100 decent seats today and the rest have already been “reserved” for people richer than me and will never see primary sale …

  81. highflyer Said,

Sean - me too, theyve just changed mine as well.

  82. R Said,

Me too - does this mean anybody who cannot go selling on Getmein can add a few quid onto the sale price after it has been agreed? As this is standard business practice, apparently!

  83. nick Said,

They did the same with me on the Kings Of Leon pre-sale a couple of weeks back - they forgot to charge me postage (the confirmation screen and email confirmation definitely didn’t include anything for postage), then I checked my TM account a couple of days later and they’d added £5.25.

Bizarrely, a few days ago I noticed a refund for £2 from Ticketmaster on my credit card statement and when I checked the booking again they’d reduced postage to £3.25! (And no email to let me know or anything) Very odd.

But yes, surely it’s illegal to confirm one price at the time of booking and then charge the card a different (higher) amount?!

  84. ganga_man Said,

I just checked my online bank statement and it appears Ticketmaster have only charged the initial price they offered (£65.00 x 4 tickets + postage = £262.50).

  85. Sean Said,

Have a look what your TM account says now for the tickets that were bought without the booking fee!

  86. Sean Said,

false alarm, said cancelled but has changed back again now. very strange

  87. ganga_man Said,

    Sean - my Ticketmaster account says £65.00 + £8.25 x 4 tickets + postage = £295.50, but I’ve still only had £262.50 taken from my bank account…

  88. groovin Said,

  89. John Said,

Having looked at the price of shit seats on the secondary market, I thought better of it and bagged a pair in 105 this morning so we will get to go to the ball, though we’ll need our binoculars I imagine …
