GetToTheFront: You are due to release your new EP soon what can Fan Death fans expect from that in terms of sound and inspirations behind it?
Fan Death: Well, the songs tend towards melancholia and of course most have the beautiful string and horn arrangements that are kind of our signature.
Our inspirations are a mix of early synth pop and acoustic outsider folk things like Current 93, Comus, Lewis Furey and Cockney Rebel.
GTTF: You’re touring the UK from February with Vampire Weekend and have international dates touring with Little Boots; we would like to know who would be your dream artist/band to tour with and why?
FD: Maybe Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds or Depeche Mode because know almost all of their songs and wouldn’t get sick of hearing them. Also i have a crush on Martin Gore. I also think MGMT could be an interesting band to tour with.
GTTF: We have some fun questions to ask you to let people get to know a bit more about you individually;
- If you were going to write a description of yourself in a lonely hearts column how would you describe yourself?
Petite hoarder seeks rich guy with large amounts of space to house wardrobe/dvd collection and record collection. Open minded doesn’t mind sleeping during the day and likes daschunds.
- What’s your favorite song of all time?
“Hustler’s Tango” by Lewis Furey at the moment.
- What’s your favorite film?
Hard to choose just one, but here’s some favorites; “Woman in the Dunes”, “American Family - tv series from the 70s”, “The Brood”,
- Who is your celebrity crush?
Axl Rose circa Appetite or earlier.
- If we were to go through your IPod what album or song would most surprise us?
episodes of the “loveline” call in show.
- If you could banish one music artist/band who would you choose and why?
Simon Cowell and everything he’s responsible for (Would clear things up pretty quick) and of course Nickleback since i’m in Vancouver.
GTTF: Can you give us one Fact about that band that no one else knows yet?
FD: Our favorite tv show to watch on the road is Dallas, followed by
Dynasty and failing that Degrassi or 90210.
GTTF: What can Fan Death fans expect from you in 2010?
FD: Lots of shows everywhere, and a full length album to follow the ep -also more videos.
